・Hot Springs

Oita Prefecture has the highest volume of hot spring output, and the highest number of hot spring sources throughout Japan. Depending on the spring the components and effects are different. The various springs include hot mud springs for dipping in, hot sand springs for being buried in, and even carbonated springs where you are enshrouded by bubbles.
In Japan, bathing suits are not worn into the hot springs, so baths for males and females are separated. There are also private "rental baths" or "family baths" for those who are shy and want to bathe with friends or family. With so many options you can surely find a hot spring that suits you!
